From this advert i can infer that this brand is selling high end clothing, as the main pop of colour is on the models dress, which is what your eyes would be draw to first. The colour red symbolises passion and love, which seems to be a stereotypical luxury selling point, as people aspire to have passion, meaning if they buy that dress they will posses that passion and love too.

Semiotics
*Anything that can have a meaning
*The thing that creates meaning
*The meaning that is created
*Signs, signifiers and signified
*In media studies, codes mean certain things in a media project is going to be done.
*Hermeneutic code, something within a media product that crates mystery or suspense.
*Proairetic codes, known as action codes, its something within a media product that suggests something will happen.
*Symbolic codes, it is anything that has a deeper meaning for the audience.
* It is a very cluttered layout which makes the advert seem less formal, perhaps aiming at an C2DE (working class) target audience. Maybelline is a drugstore brand so the prices will be much more affordable.
*The typography is sans serif, inferring that the advert is informal.
*It is a close up shot on the woman's face to show the product in its full use, it uses a symbolic code, symbolising her to want to be attractive.
*NewYork is the background, busy, full of people rushing around and trying to do their makeup on the go, they can use this.
*Hermeneutic code of makeup being implied, mystery of why is she applying it.
*Proairetic code of mascara wand floating over her eye is as though she is going to apply the mascara.
*The highlight on her cheeks is a symbolic code of brightness and optimism.
*Leather jacket can infer that she is an independent, powerful and dominant woman.
