My Self Evaluation-30 Second Thriller Project

 
 
This past week, me and a few of my peers filmed a short 30 second thriller piece, to build suspense in a scene. Planning it out was simple once we found the right setting to film the project in, which was within the trees of our college field, to use it as a forest scene. When it came to filming, it was difficult to keep the camera in the exact same position for a long time period, so we thought on the spot and used a wide stick as a tripod. The main difficulty was editing in such a short amount of time, as we did not have enough time to add more detailed sounds. However we took advantage of the material and time we had. The 30 second short piece actually ended up being okay for our first video piece. My favourite part was when we had a close up of a rusty chain in the tree, I feel as though that simple shot set the ambiance of the entire piece. Yet I would change the lighting of the piece, as we filmed it in broad daylight outside, it looked a bit too light for a thriller, so if I had more time I would have edited the scenes to look much darker to give a more sinister look to the project.

Anchor Spreadable Butter Advert The groups represented in this advert are the elderly and the young, all within the group of family. The boy monkey is a teenager and the little girl monkey is a pre-teen. The boy monkey looks as though he is a stereotypical teenager as he is wearing a hoodie, which looks like a stereotypical 'dangerous' teenager. The women monkey is old has it seems as though she has stereotypical dementia of an elderly person, and a joke is also made about it. The elderly monkey has a Caribbean accent, portraying different ethnic groups. A stereotype of Jamaican people is that they like food and cooking. Her voice is very soft and makes the advert feel very soft and laid back.  The young boy is inferred to be very sarcastic, the Lexis of him is tat he is informal. Magazine 2- Adbuster Detournement -  Hijacking or re-routing, AKA 'culture jamming'-   The practise of criticising and subverting advertising and consumerism in the mass media, by methods such as producing advertisements parodying those of global brands. The genre is not immediately clear, its hard to tell as each cover and masthead is completely different, and there is no content on the outside, and makes it very hard to know what is in the inside.  Adbusters seems to be a parody, as it is parodying certain popular subjects in the media. There are a lot of parodies of horror films, as they all have many similar conventions, and are very easy to parody. It could be a political genre, as Donald Trump with a literal barcode moustache is on the front cover inferring he is Hitler.
