Set Production Two- Wateraid-Claudia Sings Sunshine On A Rainy Day (2016)

  • The first shot of this advert, is a close up of an radio, inferably in Britain as it is raining. This shot gives the advert a sense of relatable-ness, and how we only hear of al the miserable news on the radio, which is a complete binary opposition of Claudia singing in the sun.
  • The fact that Claudia seems to be happy where she's struggling shows just how much Wateraid has helped her, and focuses on the positive rather the the negative. As most people are immune to the guilt trip of the usual charity adverts.
  • The bright and colourful cloths that are seen being worn in the advert, are a symbolic code of the happiness that is brought to them from Wateraid and all the people who donate. Making the audience want to make others who are struggling, as happy as Claudia is.
  • There is no backing track used, just Claudia singing, which gives the advert a very simplistic and realistic feeling of joy, as if we can really tell from her tone that life is getting, and is going to get even more better.
  • The advert includes a proairetic code, of the radio in the morning inferring that someone is listening to it whilst getting ready for their normal everyday life, which is a contrast to Claudia's life where her morning routine is going dow to the water pipe, and is collecting water for her family.
  • The water is a symbolic code for the importance of water in their lives, water is how they survive. It symbolises hope, happiness and new opportunities.
  • The shot of everyone around the water pipe, symbolises the community coming together making everybody happy, everyone is smiling.
  • The empty establishing shot of the dry hay, shows just how dried out their land is and how much that certain area being portrayed needs water, water for crops and food, water to survive.
  • In this advert women are represented as strong, that they are going out and  gathering water for their family and are strongly taking care of them.
