- Genre conventions are the things that make magazines, magazines.
- Adbusters does not fit into a genre.
- We are comparing Adbusters and Woman magazine, which came out in very different time periods, 1964 and 2016.
- In 1964, women were getting more and more rights, yet things were still a bit sexist etc.
- In 2016, people are way more equal, and we have had many big big changes, such as 9/11, Donald Trump etc.
- Social context would be what is happening at the moment, who is becoming president, what wing our countries are etc.
- Historical is what has happened before to the world at certain times.
- Agree or disagree, show your opinion.
- Annotate the question, read it and underline key terms, helping us pick them out easier.
- Be blunt and ugly, and straight tot he point with your opinion, literally you are right and everyone else is wrong.
- Decide your opinion, agree or disagree, your gut reaction.
- We are going to agree with him mainly, but point out a few extra things.

- Put the plan on the answer paper, as you can get marks for your plan, e.g if it includes key terms and good points. Plan...

- Point- The social context the magazine is made in is essential to contructing genre.
- Evidence- Form the pages that we have studied of the magazine. Central image, stereotypical terrorist, which causes confusion as to why he is there, the magazine lacks cover lines, and information, there is spray paint over the masthead showing the magazine is self vandalising etc.
- Argument- Steve Neal, Adbusters is very obviously different, it changes itself up so much that it keeps the audience interesting and keeps them reading, it subverts genre conventions to effect attention.
- Conclusion (if you don't have much time don't worry about writing it)
- No evidence is needed in the conclusion.
- Your opinion needs to come through 'I am right' etc.
